Home » Tips & Tricks » Adding Search Engine Plugin for Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox by default presents a search box for some search engines that we can select so that we do not need to access the search form on the site first. To add another search engine, we can access the page Firefox Add-ons. From this page we can select a different search engine that we want. With one click on the search engine was extended once again for confirmation click, then search engines will be direct entry in the list of options on the search engine search box. However, if a search engine or site that we will not enter or not enter the list in the Firefox Add-ons, then we can add it yourself.

I will write here are the steps I do to add the search function on the list on php.net, which can be done with the URL to access http://www.php.net/manual-lookup.php?pattern=keyword. I see the source for search engines that already exist in the folder searchplugins the Firefox installation directory (Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox \ searchplugins).
Then, with a text editor, I create a file that will be named php.src, the contents:

modz

modz

File php.src are then stored in the directory that I mentioned earlier, namely Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox \ searchplugins.

PHPUntuk its icon, I set up the PHP logo diresize a size 16×16 pixels. For the extension I have tried gif, jpg and png. Icon for the file (I choose php.png) stored in the same directory as the location php.src.

I then close Firefox. Reopened after the icon appears to have been signed in PHP in the list. After entering keywords, for example, strtotime, the results showed the man page for the function strtotime.

This can also be applied to other sites, the internet, intranet, or even our web localhost. Development of the code can model codes for the other search engine in the directory mentioned above.
