Contextual links from blogs are the best links that your website may get, but does that mean paid posts is very good investment for your money? The question is NO especially if you are paying high value for them.
Let me explain why
If you know about the navigation structure of WordPress then you should know the answer if not let me explain it then. Any link from a WordPress based blog (or other blog’s platforms) will go through many stages
1- Fresh post:
The post is new it will be shown on the home page and linked from the home page, so in this stage you get a link from the blog home page, or if the blog uses the excerpt feature your post will be linked from the home page. In this stage your link has the best value.
2- Old post:
The post will not be linked from the home page, it will stay with a link from the archive page, category page and in the “NEXT” page, so now your post is deep one level in the blog.
3- Very old post:
The post will be linked under the “NEXT” link in the category, archive and “NEXT” in this scenario your post is two deep level in the blog, the value starts fading.
4- Days, years, as the time go your post will sink deeper and deeper in the blog navigation and eventually it is value will be close to 0 as Google may include this post in the supplemental index.
Things that may slow or stop link fading from blog posts:
1- If the blog has high authority (those guys regularly do not sell links)
2- If the blog home page has strong PR (5 and up)
3- If this post has really good quality that attracted people to link to it (do not expect that to happen with less than $100 posts, some times even with high paid posts that will not happen)
4- If this post goes hot on social media sites (the possibility is close to 0)
